Emergency Alert System
The Office of Student Services, in conjunction with the Campus Safety Committee, has worked to create an emergency alert system. To insure the safety of all students and employees during an emergency situation (e.g. impending severe weather, intruder on campus, etc.), Northern has instituted a system through which text messages can be sent to your cell phone.
Faculty, Students, and Staff are able to sign up for this alert system through the Portal. After logging in with your username and password, click on the top blue link that reads “Cell Messaging.” The form can be completed and submitted online. As the student form indicates, normal service provider text charges will apply. To ensure that the system has proper delivery information, Northern will send out monthly test messages to verify the system is working.
