Northern Brings Region 2 Championship Home
After a short one year hiatus the Region 2 Championship is back where it belongs. The Mavs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard and breezed to a 3-1 victory. Just forty-five seconds into the game Fernando Delgadillo, an NEO defender, and goalkeeper battled for a ball just inside the box. The ball popped out to the feet of Jack Combe, who finished it into an empty net to put the Mavericks up 1-0. Northern controlled the first half and had a lot of chances, but could not add to the total. Once again it didn't take Northern long to score in the second half. Josh Garcia played Fernando Delgadillo in behind the defense and he calmly beat the keeper to put the Mavs up 2-0. Midway through the half Angel Espinoza headed a goalkick to Jack Combe who blasted it in to ice the championship. Northern would play the rest of the game with mostly reserve players and NEO was able to score late in the game to make the final 3-1.
